Daryl Parenteau, PGA

Head Golf Professional Rancho Solano

Daryl Parenteau, a veteran of the United States Navy, has been with Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley for 30 years and assisted with the grand opening of both golf courses. He is currently based at Rancho Solano but does much of his teaching at Paradise Valley as well. Daryl’s passion for the game carries over to his love of teaching the game. 

As a member of the Professional Golfers Association for over 20 years, Daryl has developed teaching skills to meet the requirements of golfers of all abilities. His philosophy is to create a learning experience tailored to each golfer. “Everyone learns in a different way and at a different pace. As an instructor, it is my job to work within the scope of each golfer and assess their understanding and make adjustments in my teaching to ensure they have complete understanding of the fundamentals of the golf swing.” dparenteau@fairfieldgolf.com

Sam Smit, PGA

Head Golf Professional
Sam is the PGA Director of Instruction for both Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley Golf Courses. He specializes all types of lessons including individual, groups, and camps. He has been a PGA Professional for the past 10 years obtaining certifications in Teaching & Coaching, General  Management, and Golf Operations. In addition, Sam helps students by teaching golf in a simple and attainable way. Sam is also an avid runner and bicyclist who likes to focus on the fitness part of golf as well.

Kevin O’Connor, PGA

Teaching Professional, PGA
Kevin is a Class A PGA Golf Professional originally from Connecticut. He has 20 years of experience teaching all levels of golfers from beginners to tour pros.

Kevin started his playing career in High School where he won multiple tournaments. He played his first two years of college golf at Mitchell College where he won the NJCAA Division 3 National Championship. The next two years he played at Uconn and was captain of the team his senior year. After college, he turned pro and played on the Cleveland Golf Pro Tour.

Kevin’s past teaching positions include the Old Lyme Country Club in Connecticut, the Duxbury Yacht Club in Massachusetts, the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa in Texas, the Woodlawn Golf Course on Ramstein Air Base in Germany and the two courses at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia.

Jarrett Hill

Apprentice

Jarrett Hill is part of the teaching team at Paradise Valley Golf Course. He is native to the area and has practically grown up at Paradise Valley Golf Course. Jarrett has successfully competed in tournaments for the past 10 years and was named All-Conference Player for two years while attending Napa Valley College. “My personal mission is to help my students achieve their playing goals whether they are advanced or just beginning. I am very excited to be part of the Fairfield Golf Academy and look forward to sharing my knowledge with each of my students.” jhill@fairfieldgolf.com

Austin Wristen

Austin Wristen was born and raised in Northern California. He is currently in the PGA teaching program and is excited to join the team at Paradise Valley & Rancho Solano Golf Courses. Austin’s been playing the game of golf for nearly two decades. As a freshman in high school, he made the varsity golf team. Austin has taught kids camps as well as individual lessons. The Fairfield Golf Academy at Paradise Valley offers junior golf programs throughout the year for both on and off course, private lessons, clinics, camps and competitive leagues.

PGA Jr. League (Spring 2024)

PGA Jr. League exists to bring communities together through fun, team golf experiences… plus those experiences that transcend golf itself, like friendships that last for years to come or a newfound sense of confidence.

Playing as a team. Making new friends. Having fun. Competing together. Don’t take it from us… take it from the players themselves! Watch this short video and learn more.

During the course of one PGA Jr. League game, teams play four 9-hole matches in a two-person scramble format, reinforcing the team concept and creating a nurturing environment for learning the game. Coaches can also substitute players every three holes so that all of the golfers on each team can participate.

Spring league begins April 2024 – July 2024.

FGA After School Bi-Weekly Clinics: $15 per clinic

The after-school junior golf clinics offered at the FGA provide opportunities to advance in skill level throughout the year. Learn various fundamentals of the game with clinics that provide instruction on the full swing, putting, chipping and bunker shots as well as periodic on-course instruction.

Limited number of students per clinic. Early registration is recommended.

Par Academy 2024

The Par Academy is for junior golfers that have experience on the course and are ready to advance their skill level and prepare for competitive golf. Each junior will move at their own pace through a series of 10 levels with criteria that needs to be met before advancing to the next level.

  • Level 1- Score par from green junior tees for 9-holes and advance to Level 2
  • Level 2 – Score par from orange junior tees for 9-holes and advance to Level 3
  • Level 3 – Score par from black junior tees for 9-holes and advance to Level 4

Continue advancing at 25 yard intervals up to Level 10, 250 yards.

Practice is at Paradise Valley, Wednesdays from 4:00pm – 5:00pm. Tournaments on Sundays, three per quarter.

FGA Junior Club

The Fairfield Golf Academy (FGA) Junior Club provides a balance of practice on the range, play on the golf course and fun events.

Range practice is important for improving the fundamentals of the golf swing, and transferring the skills to the golf course. Weekly events and tournaments encourage fun games to further develop skills and introduce competition, all in a fun and safe environment.
